AAN Board Meets in Detroit, Discusses Broad Swath of Topics
The Association of Alternative Newsmedia board of directors met in Detroit on Saturday, December 3. It was the first meeting of the current board that was elected at AAN's annual meeting in July.

AAN Opens Door to Non-Print Publications, Fills Eleven Board Seats
AAN members voted on several key matters during the association's annual meeting on Saturday, July 17. Eleven seats on the Board of Directors were filled, three publications were admitted into the association, and a bylaws amendment allowing online-only publications to apply for membership was passed by an overwhelming majority.

AAN Elects New President, Fills Ten Board Seats
At the annual meeting of the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies on Saturday, June 27, Willamette Week's Mark Zusman was elected the association's new president. He succeeds Metroland's Stephen Leon, who will take the advisory role of Immediate Past President. The membership voted on nine other board seats on Saturday, including two that were created just minutes earlier when AAN's bylaws were amended.

Ten Candidates Running for Election to AAN Board of Directors
All of the members who have announced their candidacies are thus far running unopposed. However, AAN bylaws do not require individuals to declare their intention to run in advance. Any regular members who are interested in seeking a seat on the board can be nominated from the floor at the annual meeting, which will be held on Saturday, June 7, during the association's annual meeting in Philadelphia. Nine Candidates Running for Election to AAN Board of Directors
Erin Sullivan (pictured), managing editor of Baltimore City Paper, is running for the membership chair position being vacated by Seven Days' Paula Routly, one of several spots on the AAN board that are up for grabs this year.
