A new fight now looms between wolf advocates, game managers, ranchers, conservationists and hunters: After nearly 50 years on the Endangered Species List, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service earlier this month proposed removing federal protections for gray wolves nationwide. While thousands of Idaho hunters have stalked wolves over three recent seasons, just a few hundred have succeeded. Robert Roman has likely claimed more than any other hunter or trapper in the state.
