Three Alt-Weekly Reporters to Receive Texas Gavel Awards

The State Bar of Texas will honor three alt-weekly reporters with Texas Gavel Awards for excellence in legal reporting:

  • Jordan Smith, Austin Chronicle, for "The Science of Injustice"

  • Jeff Prince, Fort Worth Weekly, for "The Power of Alienation"

  • Mandy Oaklander, Houston Press, for "Life Without Parole"

    • The awards will be presented in a ceremony on August 10 in Austin.
