Navigating the Issues of the New Media World
Facilitator: Steve Buttry, American Press Institute

Real-life reporting and editing issues in the wild web world is the topic of this session. How much do you trust sources and tips from twitter and Facebook? What are the rules for reporting info from these sites? How do you handle a breaking story that changes from minute to minute? What about those anonymous comments and lurking trolls? Should blogs have different standards from printed news stories? The American Press Institute's Steve Buttry offers an interactive day-long session on the standards, fairness, challenges and techniques we all face as we move from a weekly to a minute-by-minute model.
